Wilson Family Thriller Video

Our church had a make a family video contest.  I tried to convince Scott we should do something easy like a harlem shake.  Scott never picks easy.  He wrote was the choreographer, director, script writer, and on, and on.  Ollie was our sound man. (and watch for cars in the alley man)  I will take credit for costume design.  And make up.  And keeping Eliza and Frederick happy while we shot every scene in one night.  Scott is also a procrastinator. We ran out of light.  And had no light crew.  But I love it.  The kids love it.  We should have won an award, but there were no awards!

A day in the life of Frederick

We had some guests this weekend and after being here for a few days, they asked if Frederick every cried.  Which made me realize I need to write down what we put him through so I can tell him someday.  A friend describe juggling four kids schedule as a puzzle.  Every day, or hour, trying to figure out the best way to meet every childs' often conflicting needs.  His "schedule"  is basically, "hurry and take a nap now for these few hours we are home or you will never get to sleep!"

Saturday morning he woke up and nursed about 7.  Played for a little while and was down sleeping again before 9.  By 10, I was pulling him out of bed to take him on our hike which turned into a beach day due to traffic and meant we were driving for an hour.  So we made it to the beach and took him down in his car seat where he sat for an hour while we got everyone settled.  I heard him sucking on his little hands so I got him out to nurse him at which point every child decided they needed to eat so he latched on and off about 20 times while trying to nurse him and get snacks for sandy hands.  Still not a peep.  Then I put him in the wrap and he napped a little on me until the wind picked up and Daddy decided they had tried to catch enough waves.  He started stirring in the cold so I took him up to the car to change his diaper while everyone else packed up.  Then we drove to eat lunch and as we were heading into Subway he pooped again but since there was no restroom I didn't change him until we were on our way back home and at the car again.  We got home about 4:50 and Scott pulled everything out of the car while Calvin and I jumped into our church clothes for a baptism for his friend.  Frederick got to come with us because he needed to nurse again.  Which is did as soon as we got there and I could sit down again.  Then it was back in the car at 6:15 to head home.  At that point he actually did start to cry for two minutes until Calvin gave him his pacifier and he conked out!  Came home and went to bed.  I dream fed him that evening and we didn't hear from him until 6:30 the next morning.  And now it is Sunday evening and after a long afternoon at church he went to bed at 5 pm.  I dream fed him again and probably won't hear from him until morning.  Maybe he will wake up at 3 am and be a normal baby!!  I doubt it.

My Sunday Helpers

I want to remember that this actually happened because I could barely believe it all myself.  Scott has a new job at church that means he has to leave two hours early for meetings.  He called it his new "daddy doesn't have to help on Sunday job."  I haven't taken all four kids to church by myself yet so we started really early.  Maybe that was the key.  I am not sure yet, but it was unreal.  Everyone ate their lunch without argument.  No fighting in the tub.  Oliver packed his own bag (purse)  supplied with scriptures the talk we wrote, and tissues.  Calvin helped me find the keys faster than ever.  Frederick slept all morning- but that is normal.  I woke him up and nursed him and we were off.  Eliza fell on the way out of the door and Oliver rushed to kiss her knee, unprompted.  Calvin snapped Eliza in without a reminder and then jumped out to open my door.  By the time we got to church early and everyone was folding their arms for opening prayer I had to ask Scott if he knew who those children on our pew were?!!

Oliver's Talk- Missionaries

My name is Oliver WIlson.  I am five years old.  You have to be 18 to serve a mission, but I can get ready now.

Missionaries teach people about Heavenly Father and Jesus.

1.  Reading my scriptures now helps me feel happy in my body and I can teach people when I am big.

2.  Doing chores now is hard.  But your mom and dad won't able to help you clean your room on your mission.

3. My dad teaches me Spanish now.  So I know I can learn languages.

4. Saying my prayers now teaches me to talk to Heavenly Father.  I am learning  Heavenly Father loves me.

5. Singing primary songs now, teaches me about Jesus Christ.  I will be able to sing on my mission too.

I want to be a good missionary.  I can be a good friend too!

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

School starts

First day at school.  As expected Ollie was happy to go, not a tear, at least not from him.  Calvin was happy to see his friends again too.  Traffic was so crazy at the new location that Scott did the actual drop off and I hauled the babies in late to give a little wave.  I remember on Calvin's first days I stayed late several days until he stopped hugging and crying and could stay.  Once he was sitting next to a boy having a hard time and he patted his back and talked to him.  My sweet Calvin.  Today on the way home Ollie told us about a girl that was crying for her mom almost the whole day.  I asked if he was nice to her or helped her feel better.  He responded that it was so loud he could even take it, she sounded like a tornado.  Classic Ollie.

I told them to smile for this picture, it was the first day of school!  "And I didn't go to the principal!"  yells Ollie.  Guess we used that threat too much!  It is fun to see how excited Ollie is to go to school.

I can't wait until Eliza goes to school and she talks my ear off giving me every detail on the way home. But this was my favorite story of what I could piece together and pull out of them both.  I guess Ollie's stomach felt sick after lunch (maybe the PB nutella sandwhich Dad packed)  so he was sitting down during recess, the only one they share with the first graders.  Calvin saw him and left his friends to go sit with him the rest of the recess.

Frederick Hans Wilson

I have waited too long to do this and already the details are getting fuzzy. But Frederick is here and he is perfect. He arrived two days early after weeks of contractions leading nowhere. My doctors striped my membranes three times (starting at 37 wks) bc he didn't want "my baby to get bigger than 8 lbs" I laughed at that bc I have never had a baby that little. Frederick weighed 9.6 lbs. Our biggest baby yet. We had to go to a hospital 45 minutes away bc the hospital here does not allow VBACs. But we made it in time and I have already forgotten how annoyed I was driving to 45 minutes for every appointment....how fast these cute babies make you forget everything!

He scared us his first few minutes of life, the cord was loose around his neck and they thought he had swallowed meconium. He had some facial bruising as well. But thankfully he is perfectly healthy. We stayed an extra day for hideous light treatments for jaundice. Someone really needs to figure out a better way. After listening to him cry for a bit I finally took apart the light contraption and put him next to me in bed so I could soothe him. Scott and I were glad to be out of that hospital room by day three!

He is loved and poked by all. Eliza is adjusting to her dethroning by being extra clingy to me but we are working it out and thankfully she loves to do all things baby. Including nurse her dolls. Frederick is calm and quiet. Or he just learned very fast that he doesn't stand a chance at being heard so he gave up. Either way we are all in love. And Scott and I keep commenting on how easy babies are. I think when we have teenagers we will wish our kids were young again too!!!

Helping dad with homework

The kids got to help Scott with his homework the other night and I thought his parents would enjoy seeing how well he is doing in Chinese!! Scott had to make a video pretending he was grocery shopping. Eliza was mad she could not be the star of the show.
